Dr. Brian Nussbaum
Dr. Brian Nussbaum serves as Senior Intelligence Analyst with the New York State Office of Counter Terrorism (OCT), part of the State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES). He was the 2012-2013 Visiting Professor of Homeland Defense in the Strategic Wargaming Division of the Center for Strategic Leadership and Development at the United States Army War College.
He currently serves as an Adjunct Professor of Public Administration at the State University of New York at Albany, where he teaches about terrorism, political violence, and security issues. His research and professional practice have focused on numerous topics including threat and risk assessment, intelligence analysis, terrorism and counterterrorism, transnational criminal and cyber threats, critical infrastructure protection, state and local government, strategic planning, and scenario analysis. In addition to almost a decade of professional work in the field of homeland security intelligence and policy, he previously served as Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice at Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts.
Brian has a doctorate in Political Science - with a focus on International Relations and Comparative Politics - from the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs at the State University of New York at Albany. His research has appeared in numerous books and journals; including Studies in Conflict and Terrorism, Global Crime, and the Journal of Applied Security Research.
